Day 1     Mon      23 Sep                  Fly Brisbane to Tel Aviv               

 

Day 2     Tue        24 Sep                  Tel Aviv                             

Arrive this morning and transfer to Emmaeus for a short visit, then on to our hotel in Bethlehem to settle in. Rest of the day is free until we meet for dinner. (D)

 

Jerusalem Temple Mount-Day 3     Wed       25 Sep                  Jerusalem

After breakfast we set off with our guide for a full day of sightseeing. We start at the top of the Mount of Olives to enjoy the panoramic view of the old city of Jerusalem. Walk through the Palm Sunday route to reach Dominus Flevit Church where Jesus wept over the fate of Jerusalem and view the Dome of the Rock and Alaqsa Mosque. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations, then we proceed to the Western Wall, the holiest place for the Jews in Jerusalem. Then to Mt Zion, visit the Upper Room where Jesus had his Last Supper and also the Tomb of King David. After a lunch break we will walk the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre , the most sacred place for Christians to visit Golgotha and the place of the tomb.  Then return to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight. Day 4     Thu        26 Sep                  Jerusalem

This morning we will visit the town of Bethany and then back to Jerusalem to visit St George’s Anglican Cathedral and College. The rest of the day is free. The coach will be available in the late afternoon for return to the hotel in Bethlehem. (B,D)

 

Bethlehem Shepherd with flockDay 5     Fri           27 Sep                  Bethlehem

After breakfast we will visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, then drive to Masada, a natural fortress that was fortified by Herod the Great. Take the cable car to the top to see Herod’s Palaces, the bathhouse and the ground where the famous story of the first Jewish Revolt took place. This afternoon there will be an opportunity to float in the Dead Sea. Return to Bethlehem for dinner and overnight. (B,D)

 

Day 6     Sat         28 Sep                  Haifa, Nazareth

We drive to the city of Acre with its fortified walls and where we find lots of evidence from the Crusader era. Then proceed to the port city of Haifa. Here we will ascend to the top of Mt Carmel and visit Stella Maris. Afterwards we will visit Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle then to Nazareth and the Church of the Annunciation, the house of Mary and the Mount of Precipice. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Nazareth. (B,D)

 

Day 7     Sun         29 Sep                  Sea of Galilee, Capernaum

Today we enjoy a scenic boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, then on to Capernaum where we visit the synagogue. Drive to the site of the loaves and fishes miracle, and continue to visit the Church of St Peter’s Primacy. Ascend to the top of the Mount of the Beatitudes. Before returning to Nazareth we will also stop at Caesarea Philippi, in the Golan Heights where Jesus told St Peter that he is the rock on which He will build his church. We plan to have a Eucharist at the hotel before dinner this evening. (B,D)

Early departure as we cross over into Jordan via the Sheikh Hussein Bridge. Here we will meet a local guide and travel on to visit Jerash, which is one of the most famous ancient Greco-Roman sites. When we arrive in Amman we shall have a city tour before checking into our hotel. (B,D)

 

Day 9     Tue        01 Oct                  Madaba, Aqaba

We travel to Madaba today and the Byzantine church, and then to Mt Nebo from where Moses saw the Promised Land. We then go on to Aqaba for overnight. (B,D)

 

Day 10  Wed       02 Oct                  Aqaba

A free day is planned in this resort city. There will be optional tours available for those who wish to do more than relax. Dinner at the hotel this evening. (B,D)

 

Day 11  Thu        03 Oct                  Wadi Rum

A treat is in store today as we travel to Wadi Rum, the largest and most magnificent of Jordan’s desert landscapes. Enjoy a Bedouin  jeep ride in the desert and then make camp for an overnight in the desert at Hillawi Camp. (B,D)

 

PetraDay 12 Fri           04 Oct                  Petra

A marvellous day of sightseeing is ahead of us, after experiencing a desert sunrise, as we visit the ancient site of Petra. Afterwards we continue on to Amman for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

 

Day 13 Sat         05 Oct                  Tel Aviv

Cross back into Israel this morning and visit Jaffa with its ancient port. Then on to the capital Tel Aviv where we shall have a short sightseeing tour before transferring to the airport for our return flights. (B)

Day 15  Mon       07 Oct                  Early arrival home this morning.

SINGLE SUPPLEMENT:   For those preferring not to pay the Single Supplement it may be possible to arrange share twin accommodation, depending on availability. This is not guaranteed.

 

Additional Arrangements:

Integrity Travel, in association with Canterbury Tours, will be happy to arrange any extensions to your tour. Hotels, touring, flight reservations, car hire, rail travel, cruising etc may be booked before or at the end of your tour.

 

Airfares:

The prices quoted above include airfares from Brisbane to Tel Aviv and return.  The prices quoted remain current, dependent on airfares at the time of publishing this itinerary. We are not able to guarantee airfares closer to departure date.

Many of our travellers have access to airline loyalty programs, and so prefer to fly with a specific carrier. In this case, we would be happy to quote a price for the land only arrangements of this tour. An arrival transfer is included in the tour price for those passengers arriving on the group booking. Should your chosen flights arrive at different times, it would be necessary to arrange a private transfer from the airport to the hotel, and for this there would be an additional charge.

 

Important – Please Note:

While every effort has been made to assess the cost of this tour as a whole, should there be variances to currency exchange rates, Canterbury Tours reserves the right to impose a surcharge to the quoted cost.

 

Deposit

A deposit of $500 per person is required to confirm a place on the tour. Please consider Cancellation Insurance at this time, as this deposit is non-refundable except under extreme circumstances.

 

Balance of Payment

Full payment of the balance of the tour cost will be due and payable approximately 90 days prior to departure. After that date all unused accommodation will be released to the overseas suppliers, and late applications to join the tour will be possible only upon request and consultation with the various overseas suppliers and the airline concerned.

 

Health

This tour is not strenuous, though there are days when quite a deal of walking is required, and often on cobblestoned streets – please consider your individual capabilities in this regard. The tour is not rushed and will be conducted to please all passengers if possible. We have allowed for free time and even free days whilst touring, and there are only three stops of one night – all other stops are for multiple nights’ stay. We are not planning very early morning starts.

Please also consider the high daily temperatures that would be expected in this part of the world.
